    Links in Start Menu/Programs

I copied or pinned links in the Start Menu/Programs to the area displayed when the start button is clicked on. But for some reason they all disappeared so I copied them back to the same area. The problem now is they are all suffixed with (2) or as xxxxx (2). If I attempt to rename it to that without (2), "Same name link already exists" is returned.
How can I fix this problem?

Your old links Could Be In All Programs.
If you Rarely Click On The Links, I they will automatically Be moved To all Programs. One Thing You Can Do Is Drag The Links To The Top Of The Start Menu To Pin Them.

I am Not Sure If You Dragged Them To The Top Of the Start Menu By the Way.

My thought is that too many have been Pinned to the Start menu and not all are being seen. I'd delete those that have the number added as one can't have two identically named files or shortcuts in the same place. Right-click the Start button, click Properties and on the middle tab click Customize. At the bottom will show how many can be on the list.

I found the answer: Those links or short-cuts are located at the following:
    C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\StartMenu
All original short-cuts were there, so I deleted them and renamed that with (2) to that without. Maybe the original short-cuts were corrupted for some reason.
Thanks everyone for trying to help me.
