I don't know if this will help at all, but I went into Event Viewer to check for any Chrome related errors and this was what I found:

All of Chrome crashes seem to have the same timestamp

Sorry, corrected. Bicycling on phone. Will read back through when I get home.

Once RAM is determined then test in two browsers after each step given.

I'm going to guess you meant the Windows 7 tutorial for memtest you provided? I've ran 4 passes thrice and I've provided results for them. I'm now running 8 passes with the non error ram on the second slot. Then I'll run 8 passes with the other one on the same slot if it comes out zero again.

I don't know what you meant by the next paragraph.. Test what in two browsers?

    RAM - Test with Memtest86+

If you are having Chrome crashes then try also another browser to see how it performs as a comparison.

Oh, I'm already doing memtest. One stick failed with 5 errors after 4 passes while the other passed two tests with no errors. What confuses me is that even then, using the "good" ram also causes crashes.

Also, Firefox crashes even severely than chrome

OK I gave you steps earlier today which have not had reply. Please catch up with those and any other steps which have been given so that we know what has been tried.

The way things work best here is if you work through and report back on all steps given, keeping track yourself of what's been completed. Then we can give you other steps based on your results. Do not skip any steps because often that will be the fix.

The stick with 5 errors - put it in a non-static bag and mark the bag ??BAD?? memory. Don't have a non-static bag? I suppose wrapping it in Wax paper would be alright, the wax will prevent static, don't wrap it too tight, the wax might transfer to the connectors. If the RAM truly is bad, it shouldn't really matter.

    Continue testing the other stick.

Don't try to do too much at one time. Complete troubleshooting task at a time and report the results before moving on to the next suggestion. You might wait until the results are viewed in case there is any follow up.

Nothing can be done until the RAM is tested and shown not to be causing the crashes. If the 2nd RAM passes at least 8 testing phases, then you can focus on the crashes. There are a set of reports members need to see that will assist them trouble shooting the issue on your machine. Don't worry about that now - it could be the RAM or the slot. Trying to troubleshoot anything else before that is chasing ghosts and will take a lot longer.

You have some good folks helping you already, I'll check back tomorrow to see how the 2nd stick of RAM testing went.

    1. Test the hard drive using maker's HD Diagnostics diagnostics/repair extended CD scan. Burn ISO to CD using Windows Image Burner then boot the disk to run extended Scan. Then run a full Disk Check on all partitions, if necessary from System Recovery Options Command Line.

I can't test this because I don't have a disk drive. Is there any way in which I can load it on to a USB?

    2. Test your RAM - Test with Memtest86+ CD for 7 or more passes, or overnight.. The tutorial will show you how to test individual RAM sticks and slots. Check the slots for debris.

Memtest for 4 passes with two 8 GB kits. Tested separately and on different slots.
    1st slot
B, not tested yet, but applications still crashing
    3rd slot
    B encountered 0 errors ; Applications crashing
    2nd slot
    B encountered 0 errors ; Applications crashing
    4th slot
    A encountered 5 errors ; Applications crashing
    B encountered 0 errors ; Applications crashing

    3. Check all cabling is securely connected and in good condition, try reinstalling suspect hardware, swap RAM sticks, unplug extra HD's, peripherals, CD/DVD drive to see if problems disappear. Unplug or remove any floppy drive.

Check all cabling is securely connected and in good condition: They are.
    Swap RAM sticks: See above.
    Unplug extra HD's: Done.
    Peripherals: Done.
CD/DVD drive: No disk drive or floppy drives
Try reinstalling suspect hardware: In the process. Usually need to restart computer and immediately install. If not, it will crash.

    4. Check temps for overheating by installing Core Temp which will allow monitoring temps from System Tray. If running hot blow dust out of the case using canned air or clean out laptop dust, check all connections carefully avoiding static discharge to components by touching case first, upgrade or reseat RAM checking for debris in slot.

https://i.imgur.com/4lHK2Oi.png Temps with only Chrome open
https://i.imgur.com/1UjdhyK.png Temps with Hawken open. Artifacts start appearing on Google Chrome. CPU temps had never been this high. 10 minutes after game is closed, the temps are still at 68 to 76 C. Could overheating be a problem?
https://i.imgur.com/xtP3DPd.png 10 minutes after closing game. Restarted the computer but artifacts still present.

    5. Check for infection by installing Malwarebytes, update, run a Full Scan - in Safe Mode with Networking if necessary.

    Done. Nothing suspicious.

    6. Many issues can be solved by running a free lightweight AV like Microsoft Security Essentials with the Windows 7 Firewall for best performance. You can uninstall your AV to run this as a test to be sure. Yours may also need an Uninstaller (removal tools) for common antivirus software - ESET Knowledgebase
A more aggressive free AV that similarly allows best Win7 performance is Panda Cloud.

    Done. Nothing suspicious.

    7. Establish a Clean Boot by un-checking everything in msconfig>Startup except AV: Startup Programs - Change. After reboot enter msconfig>Services, check the box to "Hide All MS Services," repeat above steps.

Check back periodically that nothing has written itself into either list, if so turn it off in its Program Preferences or Uninstall it. A program can wait to start until you click on it. Freeloaders slow startup, can be a drag on CPU/RAM, cause issues and spy on you.
If you have a question about an item Google its name to find out what it does.
    Done. Applications still crashes.

    8. Type "Solutions" in Start Search box to see if any have been queued for Problems reported or not. Look at the Troubleshooters available on that page to see if one might help. Always report problems when asked as Windows 7 is interactive this way.

    Nothing. Only to check backup.

    9. You can try System Restore to a point before the problem occurred, if necessary running it from System Recovery Options.
This step offers a chance to restore to a previous configuration, but System Restore limitations should be noted as in the first four boxes of System Restore Point - Create.
Always make sure you have as much space apportioned for restore points as you can afford at System Protection - Change Disk Space Usage

Tried that. No change. Still crashes.

    10. Enable hardware auto-updating to make sure you're getting the latest drivers via Windows Updates - which should also be set to Automatic - then Check for Updates. Install all Important and Optional Updates, after reboot Check for Updates again until there are no more.
Any missing drivers can be found on the Support Downloads webpage for your computer or device model. Driver Install - Device Manager

Checked all drivers (GPU, motherboard). Nothing not updated.

    11. Check for newer display driver, or roll back to the previous version or try another Windows 7 or Vista driver. Turn off or uninstall the accompanying software package. Driver Install - Device Manager

Can't do this. This happens everytime I try. Even after restart https://i.imgur.com/IozT5Fc.png

    12. Use Process Monitor for Application Failures, File System issues, Registry issues, Boot logging, Memory Stack issues, and misleading Error messages which is demonstrated in this Process Monitor Demo - YouTube. Type Resource Monitor in Start Search box to narrow down resource hogs.

Process monitor : what do I look for?

Resource monitor: https://i.imgur.com/h7WtSUm.png Is the Internet Download Manager taking up too much resource?

    13. Run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker to repair any damaged or corrupt OS files. If it won't run in Win7 then try from DVD or System Repair Disk Command Line using SFC /SCANNOW Run in Command Prompt at Boot .

    Done. Nothing wrong.

    15. Study the Event Viewer>Custom>Admin view for repeat errors to google text and ID# to find out how others have resolved them. Event Viewer - Open and Use in Windows 7

Hey, thanks for the advice. I'm sorry if I sounded in any way impatient. I've just been a little bit frustrated and desperate.

As for the RAM test. Here are the results so far.

Memtest for 4 passes with two 8 GB kits (A and B). Tested separately and on different slots.
    1st slot
B, not tested yet, but applications still crashing. I basically tried using the "good" ram in the first slow as suggested by another person from another forum. It still crashes.
    3rd slot
    B encountered 0 errors ; Applications crashing
    2nd slot
    B encountered 0 errors ; Applications crashing
    4th slot
    A encountered 5 errors ; Applications crashing
    B encountered 0 errors ; Applications crashing

I also reinstalled both Chrome and Firefox. Both are still crashing, although Chrome crashes less now. When my CPU was 65-70+ temp, it hang a lot.

Things I will be trying later/tomorrow:
    1) memtest "bad" ram on 3rd slot for 8 passes.
1a) If error, memtest "bad ram on 2nd slot for 8 passes.
    2) Fresh install of Windows 8 on separate SSD, then check for crashes

    Any other suggestions?

You have done a lot that we weren't aware of. Work with Bill now who can help zero in on needed tests. I'll be monitoring the thread along with others to jump in if we see something to add.

Please fill in your System Specs in the bottom left hand corner of post.

Every HD test has a flash stick version which might be listed at the links in HD Diagnostic. Did you check the one listed for your version? The Win7 installation media if you dont' have it or a System Repair Disk is provided in Clean Reinstall Windows 7 and can be used to do the accompanying Disk Check as recounted there.

The blue links are tutorials which explain things further and offer links.

Once we see your exact specs we can help find you another installer for your display driver, as it seems yours is failing during extraction. Can you try using Windows Explorer to open it (rightclick file to Open With Explorer) since it seems 7Zip is having problems. Maybe you need to uninstall 7Zip to see.

Just to check: Did you enable Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3)
then Check for Updates to see if any are pending for Important or Optional. This will release some drivers to be added to the list.
