    Startup Repair Loop

Hi, I am working on a Dell Laptop for a friend and it is in a Start up repair loop. I tried Last Known, same problem. I tried the Dell Emergency Backup and restore option after the start up repair fails. I also created a Windows 7 repair disc and booted from it. It shows files loading then restarts with same problem. I dont have a windows 7 disc for the laptop. I am out of ideas and any help would be appreciated.

Reboot the PC and tap the F12 key to get a Boot Menu, choose Diagnostics and Utility Partition which often has a fuller suite. Run both to learn the hardware's condition. If it won't run then boot into BIOS setup to see if the hard drive is even detected under Storage devices or BOot Order. This can happen when the hard drive comes unseated or fails.

If HD is not detected, attempt to reseat it in its bay underneath. This is fairly easy although most models if googled have a video or other tutorial on how to do it, or access the Manual at the Dell SUpport Downloads webpage for your tag number.

If HD is detected then begin with the hard drive tests and if necessary continue Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start

I did test the hardware and everything tested good. I even ran a GWScan to double check. I'll go through the stuff from the link and post my results.

    Thanks
