Windows 7 hangs on start up
I have a gaming computer with windows 7 64 ultimate.
For no apparent reason I started having problems with it running extremely slow.
I think I found the problem by removing all of the USB accessories except for the keyboard and mouse.
Then the computer speed was normal again.
The problem is that now it hangs right before it should display the screen and icons. I have a cursor and I can move it around but the screen is blank.
I've tried a system repair disk which reported it couldn't fix windows.
I've been able to get into DOS and all the directories appear to be ok.
Prior to it really taking a dump I was able to run malwarebytes with no issues, restored to a period a week prior and did a memory check. All with no issues.
So I am at a loss now how to fix this computer.
I can't do a system recover now. I can boot in safe mode or normal but it won't completely start.
System Repair didn't work.
Anyone have a magic wand for this problem?

Can you remember what, if anything, changed when you first noticed this problem? Perhaps a new program or change of settings?
Anytime I think there might be some problem, I run sfc /scannow just because it can't hurt and a lot of times it will tell us if a critical system file may be corrupt which could cause extremely slow boot times. May fix nothing or find nothing, but its always worth a shot.
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
What do you have running at startup?
Go to Start > type "msconfig" > Press enter > Click "Startup" tab then post a screen shot of it
You can use the Snipping Tool
How to Use the Snipping Tool in Vista
Post the picture in your next post.
You can try running CCleaner and its Registry cleaner to see if it can find and fix errors that could cause this. Make sure when you run the registry tool, save the registry backup when prompted. Very important.
Autoruns for Windows
Unzip the folder and Extract "Autoruns.exe" to your Desktop. Right-click it and select "Run as Administrator" Wait for it to finish scanning and then delete all Yellow entries.
Restart your PC and see if your issue is fixed. If not we may need to dig deeper to find out whats going on..
