Any .exe that trys to open gets a Bad Image error caused by nvinit.dll

It started doing this when I first turned it on today. I got a string of errors after logging in staying:
"(insertanyexe).exe - Bad Image. C:\Windows\SysWOW64\nvinit.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error."

After running multiple scans with NOD32 (it found nothing) and trying to uninstall the application that owns the dll file (NVIDIA GeForce Experience; it actually does nothing when I press "uninstall/change"), but that didn't work. So I restarted my computer and now the error message says:
"(blah blah) C:\Windows\system32\nvinit.dll (blah)

Any help figuring out if this is a virus and how to get it deleted would be amazingly helpful.

P.S. This is the first and only time this has happened and I have NOD32 scan my entire computer every Monday night. (this message is not from the infected computer).

Some of the pages found by Google Search suggest an infection.

I've looked into Google extensively before I posted here. I figured that it's a virus, now the next step is to figure out how to get it off my computer.
