Nero 15 Burning Rom won't let me utilize full Dvd capabilites 8.5 GB

I'm trying to write to disc two files totalling 8GB +40MB on a verbatime 8.5 GB Dual layer dvd but its saying its over capacity? There are nearly half a gig left on free space. I chose the DVD UDF option. Can I enable overwrite or simulate a successful somehow?

Do you have a DVD burner that is capable of dual layer burning? And it sounds like the disc is not being detected as dual layer.

I've already burned a disc already so I assume so. Nero is reading the dvd to be 8 Gigs and automatically found the correct speed to write to disc 2.4x. I'm sure its reading the disc right, or almost right and my computer is able to write to disc dual layer dvds.

From a similar topic. how do I choose where to save the output 7zip file when using 7zip. The files are on e hd and I want to save the zip to dekstop? Also is there a way to split winrar files into smaller parts. I have a 20 GB rar that I'd like split into 8 GB parts. Or I need an archiver that lets me split an archive into 8 gb parts while compressing and it needs to allow me to change the ouput to a different location..
