Is it a good idea to download the Windows 7 ISO?

I'm sure y'all think I post too much on here and the Windows 8 forums as well. But, y'all are the only people available to help me, it seems like.

Anyhow, my question is. Is it a good idea to download the Windows 7 ISO to a disk or USB, just in case my computer ever fails?

If your hdd fails, all you have to do is open the saved image and restore to the new hdd.

All programs, os, everything is back and you're good to go.

I am getting a hard drive with Windows 7 on it, but I think it would be a good idea to have an extra copy laying around.

By having the image saved, you don't have to reinstall your programs or docs- isn't that easier?

Not to mention having to download all the updates.

    I prefer this site.

And this tool for putting the iso onto a flash drive of at least 4 GB.

A hard drive doesn`t come with Windows 7 on it, you put the hard drive in the pc and then you install windows on the hard drive.

Putting a hard drive from another PC with an OS already on it is never the proper way to have windows on a pc, you clean install windows to the hard drive and you`ll never have issues.

Windows takes 15 minutes to install.
