This strange rectangular do-dad showed up on my Windows 7 laptop last week. Unfortunately can't remember what I was doing prior to that... but then also appeared on my son's laptop (Windows 7, linked thru home router). Other computers in house not effected (OS 7, 8.1). Did not yet pull a restore point because I wanted to check here first. It appears in very lower-right corner on startup, nowhere else. It can be moved by dragging with left-click, but right-click has no effect. All windows are behind it at all times except task bar (browser, software, games, etc.). Has anyone ever seen this before? Google image search did not yield a match. Thank you so much!
PS - This is my first post, so please let me know how I did

Can't see anything.

Establish a Clean Boot, run a MBAM and SuperAntiSpyware scan, SFC, then if necessary complete the other Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7.

Please be patient with my ignorance, but can you say that again in plain English? All I understand is to follow the link for the Troubleshooting Steps...

Did my attachment not work? I saw it in the preview and I followed the directions to the letter. I will try again:

When I click on the attachment link in the post, I do see it.
Thanks.

Welcome CaliforniaGirl

Can you do a screen snip of it with a little more view of the surrounding area with the win7 snipping tool ?

That is a well-known Comodo problem, as I reported in this thread:

Thank you Not Myself. This is exactly the issue! Too bad I couldn't find the image another way and not waste all your time. Sorry for the duplicate thread.

That is not a problem, I'll just bill you twice for my approximately one minute to post my reply, the one that helped you. Herewith that bill: $$00..0000.

We see nothing but problems with Comodo here, so I'd uninstall it with the special tool required to root out bloatware like that: Uninstallers (removal tools) for common antivirus software - ESET Knowledgebase

Then replace it with one of the free lightweight AV's recommended in Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7
