What to Choose?? Im trying to upgrade my dell inspiron 1720 with windows vista home laptop up to windows 7. Im in college and therefore get the special discount of upgrading to windows 7 home premium for only $29.99. This discount also allows me to choose to upgrade to windows 7 professional for the same price.
I use my laptop for some gaming, music, doing homework (which includes programming and related courses), and messing around with any new fun software i can get my hands on.
What should i get?

I went with Home Premium as I didn't need any of the Pro features. Works a treat on my home PC, but if you can get Windows 7 Pro for a good price, go for it! | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Build OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit CPU Intel Core i7 2600K 3.4GHz Sandy Bridge Motherboard ASUS P8Z68-V Pro Memory 8Gb Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz DDR3 CL8 Graphics Card Gigabyte GTX460 1Gb OC Sound Card Realtek HD, Logitech G35 7.1 USB Headset Monitor(s) Displays BenQ 24" Full HD 16:9 DVI Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard Microsoft Sidewinder X4 Mouse Logitech G500 Gaming Mouse PSU XFX 650W XXX Edition Modular Case CoolerMaster Elite 335 Cooling Xilence Red Wing Hard Drives Western Digital 640Gb 64Mb Cache SATA III

Pro is more feature rich than Home Premium. I would get Pro. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Too many to list. OS XP, Seven, 2008R2 CPU AMD, Intel, VIA Motherboard Various Memory Corsair, Kingston, etc. Graphics Card ATI, NVIDIA Monitor(s) Displays Samsung Keyboard qwerty Hard Drives Maxtor, Western Digital Internet Speed 22 Mb/s @ home, 1 Gb/s @ server Other Info All of my systems still run fastest on XP 32-bit for the most part. Win7 is fun to play with, but I still prefer XP for raw speed, security, and functionality. |
