Windows 7: What to Choose??

What to Choose??

Im trying to upgrade my dell inspiron 1720 with windows vista home laptop up to windows 7. Im in college and therefore get the special discount of upgrading to windows 7 home premium for only $29.99. This discount also allows me to choose to upgrade to windows 7 professional for the same price.
I use my laptop for some gaming, music, doing homework (which includes programming and related courses), and messing around with any new fun software i can get my hands on.

What should i get?

I went with Home Premium as I didn't need any of the Pro features. Works a treat on my home PC, but if you can get Windows 7 Pro for a good price, go for it!

Pro is more feature rich than Home Premium. I would get Pro.

Pro although Ultimate is the best if you want everything.

Thanks for stating the obvious, but Ultimate is not an option here...

Go for the Pro version - more features (which you may only use once in a blue moon) for the same price is a no-brainer.

Windows 7 Ultimate x64 + x86 + Windows 8 x64

As Pro includes everything that is in Home Premium I would say thet the Pro is the best choice.

This is different from Vista where Home and business contained different sets of functions

If they are the same price Pro is the best option.
