monitors turn off, and that's all ! music still playing, then nudge mouse and back they come ??
Sleep function working fine though ! as was Hibernate for several years !
No major changes that I can think of, that may have caused this
have checked Registry and it's enabled there.

Work through the Sleep Mode Problems which are directly related to Hibernate.
To test Hibernate I set Power Option Balanced Plan to Sleep at 1 minute and Hiberate at 2 and then observe what happens. Once fixed I set these at 30 minutes Sleep and 60 minutes Hibernate.
sleeps after 1 min, then disk action after 2 min for about 3 or 4 min (mouse icon on screen), then back to sleep ! repeats after a min or 2 !?
It should come out of sleep long enough to write the contents of RAM to the hiberfile, then Power off.
If this is not what is happening then trace what is interfering with sleep from the Sleep Problems tutorial.
