lock down windows 7 users from control panel among others

hey guys

I have about just under 200 computers that i help manage at our company.
I am wanting to block some features with in the standard user account of windows.

Here is a few things i would like to block access to.
  • Control Panel
  • installing any programs
  • uninstalling any programs
  • access to computer
  • and so on

i know that i can hid most of them from showing up but what i would really like to do is block it to where you had to have a administrator username and password to access sertant areas.

They use to do this at my school but i had no idea on how to do this?
Is there a program or a way i can set up the computer to do so?

Note we are using windows 7 pro

I suppose those computers are connected via windows server. you can block those features using the GPO rule on your Domain Controller. You can see tutorials on how to configure this rule in microsoft website.
Also, what OS do you use in your windows server, so that we may help you more.

Hey @schottas and @gregrocker thank you for your input. I am using a windows server....kinda..... We are runing the kaspersky server software on it. It is running windows server 2003 (maybe 8 i will double check Monday). Other then running kaspersky the server does nothing. Im asuming there is a way to set the server up to manage all the users for the pc's? I would like to utilize the server more but i have spent about 20 with a server and thats all i know about it at the moment. Im trying to learn on the fly as you can tell!

Thank you for your input
