    How to fix corrupted BCD?

    Hello.
The BCD registry on my profile OS got corrupted somehow (it's the first time I even hear of such a problem). Neither "startup repair" using installation DVD nor BCDedit program have not helped (I beleive BCDedit is intended for Vista only, but I took the chance). Due to this error I can't use msconfig. This is not a critical issue, but it's annoying me, so I would be greatful if you'll tell me how can I fix it.
    Thanks in advance.

Type bcdedit into command prompt, hit enter. Take a screenshot and show us. We'll let you know if anything is wrong.

You can use Easybcd for Windows 7. They are compatible.

    Well, something's definitely wrong:

Please note BCD file actually exists.

When you reboot you are not going to be able to get back into Windows.

To fix, use Easybcd now. Tell it where your Windows 7 is installed to and save.

Download EasyBCD 1.7.2 - An advanced GUI application that makes it easy to modify the Windows Vista bootloader and the entries in it - Softpedia

Use add/remove entries tab inside of it. For type, tell it Vista/Longhorn. Hit save. Then check the view settings tab to see if good.

I have dual boot. Here's mine. Yours should be the same, except only one entry and not two. Your entry should most likely be C:\

I'm very glad you are wrong here:) I am able to reboot. I wonder how:)
Thanks for detailed instructions, but like I mentioned in first post I've already tried EasyBCD. That's what I get when I launch it:

Pressing OK brings one more dialog box, pressing OK there gets me back to one on the screenshot. It's infinite, I was forced to quit the tool.

Cool, glad. I was being extra careful to avoid potential reboot problems for you.

I'm not really sure why it's doing that. If you want to fix it so it's correct, a startup repair should probably work.

There are two more things that I should mentions as it may be related to this issue.
1)I had trouble installing OS last time. I've tried another two of my partitions. Now there's only one instance of OS(logical disk C:\ - disk 1, partition 0), but the other two partitions of disk have bootmgr's and "boot" directories.
2)I have custom bootloader, when I reboot it shows me my 3 bootable logical partitions and asks which to start. I don't need that loader now, I just don't know how to get rid of it. But I beleive it helps me to boot now, does it?

I did it. It has found some problems and tried to repair, but the problem still exists. I did it before posting here. In fact, I posted because usual methods described on the Web did not helped.

I have a system backup archive with the same OS version installed on the same partition. What do you think about deleting BCD and replacing with the one from the archive?

Or maybe I should simply reinstall the system? It doesn't go to hibernation since yesterday, this issue makes me sick... But I've already reinstalled it this week! Before that the same system (same DVD) served me for 2 months almoust without bugs... On monday I was not able to log on and decided to reinstall. Seems like now I'm getting all the bugs Microsoft has put there

There's one more things I don't understand: why can't I delete bootmgr from other two partitions since I have only one active system partition?
