How did you Upgrade to Professional, and why? It is the exact same OS except with a few features unlocked that most consumers don't need. It also wastes the Home Premium license if you do Anytime Upgrade.
I don't know I had professional key that my brother doesn't use, upgraded fine, then I did a system restore and I ended up with HP.

in fact I just realized I have HP still on my machine and that is probably why the sleep function is working.

Did you do a clean install using a Windows 7 Pro disc ?

What type of key is your brothers ? A Retail key or did you get it off his COA ? Where did the key come from ?

Did you use an upgrade disc and key ?

Describe exactly how you installed Professional.

Anytime Upgrade is not possible anymore.

Actually any retail key for a higher version that qualifies can be used for Windows Anytime Upgrade - How to - Windows 7 Forums.

Is this what you did, as shown in the blue link?

Yep I followed that link. It actually helped me since I got stuck with the error.

So I did a system restore and and I ended back up with HP, and that probably why my computer is not locked after sleep. I will try the upgrade now.

His key came from Microsoft, but got the student advantage key like me, but at the time I didn't know that I could of got pro

What features in Pro do you need exactly, because except for a few expensive extra features that almost no consumer needs it is the exact same OS?

Really, just stay with Home Premium or clean install Pro, you are wasting the Home Premium license if you upgrade from Home Premium to Pro.

If HP does all you need, there`s no real reason to install Pro.

Well it took like 2second to go back to pro.

It seems when pro is installed that, it changes the power option to require a password.

So followed gregs instructions on the page before and turn off the require password and it seems fixed.
