Windows 7: A utility that will enable the mouse wheel in Windows Explorer?

That function is not inherent to the mouse wheel, but actually each program decides what to do when clicking or scrolling it. It's customary (but certainly not mandatory) for web browsers to implement it in that way, but other kind of programs don't have to follow that "standard". It's not something that can be disabled per program.
The only chance I can think of is to find an explorer extension that provides that, if such a thing happens to exist. No idea of anything really.

Right that what it`s for, but he wants it to work in Windows Explorer also.

In exlporer you just use the menu bar on the right hand side, or the bottom.

Depending on how you setup your view, and how full the drive, partition or folder is

I thought it was only used for web pages or programs that need a lot of scrolling.
The mouse wheel button auto-scroll feature also works in Word (2003, 2007 & 2010 at least).

The indicator looks different to the indicator in FF.

I read Windows Explorer and read Internet Explorer. Old age sucks!

That sucks, it'd be cool if there was a utility to use which would add that feature for Windows Explorer.
