Sleep Option no longer available on laptop

Both the sleep option and the hibernate option are no longer available on my HP G70 laptop. When I press the Win key both sleep and hibernate are visible, but they are grayed out and not available for use. Power settings show turn off screen after 5 minutes and turn off computer after 30 minutes. Neither action will occur.

Update the latest Display driver from the HP SUpport Downloads webpage for your model.

Enable hardware auto-updating via Windows Update (Steps 3 and 6)
then Check for Updates and install all Important and Optional, with reboots, until no more are offered.

Check in Control Panel Power Options to set Display for 20, Sleep 30 and then in Advanced under Sleep set Hibernate to 60.

If these are grayed out in Power Options this means the Display adapter is not sufficient.
