System Builders Question?
Can anyone purchace, and use a Microsoft OEM System Builder License?
Instead of building a system for someone (customer), and do it for your self?
Reason why I ask is because NewEgg has Win 7 System Bulder OS's for cheaper than regular. Why can't I purchase that if I wanted and build a new system for myslef and install OS?
Curious,

Yes you can. But you have to be self sufficient as far as support goes - you are your own supporter.

You can purchase this copy as long as Newegg will sell to you - they may have their own parameters for this sale but nothing in the licence itself would prevent it.
You have to be aware of course that this licence has fairly stringent conditions attached - You cannot move the licence to another machine and you will not receive any support from microsoft | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Real World Computing (Me + a little help from Acer) OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 + x86 + Windows 8 x64 CPU AMD Phenom II X6 1035T 2.6 GHz Motherboard Aspire M3400 Memory 4Gb PC10600 DDR3 1333 MHz Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 315 512MB Sound Card OnBoard - Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays Philips 32" HDTV, (HDMI) + 26" TV (VGA) Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 @60Hz + 1360 x 768 @60Hz Keyboard Microsoft Wireless 800 or Stock Acer, (depends where I sit) Mouse Microsoft Wireless 800 or Stock Acer, (depends where I sit) PSU Stock (400W) Case Acer M3400 Cooling Stock Hard Drives 500 GB Seagate ST3500418AS SATA II

Before I upgraded to Windows 7, I was using the OEM version of Vista from Newegg.
And I never had any issue from Newegg or Microsoft. It's perfectly legitimate. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self-Built OS Windows 7 Home Premium 64 CPU Wolfdale Core 2 Duo E8400 Motherboard Gigabyte EP45-DS3L Memory 8GB PC2 6400 Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 260 GTX Sound Card Realtek 5.1 audio Monitor(s) Displays Samsung 23" widescreen Screen Resolution 2048x1152 Keyboard Logitech wireless keyboard Mouse Logitech G5 gaming mouse PSU Corsair 650W Case Antec 900 Cooling Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Hard Drives Seagate 640GB 7200 RPM SATA Internet Speed 3 Mbps DSL Other Info Built in December 2008 for US$985 |

To be honest I would not let the No Microsoft support worry you. Microsoft will supply basic support to owners of retail copies of Windows 7.
In the case of OEM copies this is the responsibility or the system builder - in this case you.
You will still be eligible for the normal use of Microsoft update and other service packs etc.
As for technical support I believe you are already on the best support site for Windows 7 anywhere on the Web - SevenForums | My System Specs | | Computer type PC/Desktop System Manufacturer/Model Number Real World Computing (Me + a little help from Acer) OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 + x86 + Windows 8 x64 CPU AMD Phenom II X6 1035T 2.6 GHz Motherboard Aspire M3400 Memory 4Gb PC10600 DDR3 1333 MHz Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 315 512MB Sound Card OnBoard - Realtek High Definition Audio Monitor(s) Displays Philips 32" HDTV, (HDMI) + 26" TV (VGA) Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 @60Hz + 1360 x 768 @60Hz Keyboard Microsoft Wireless 800 or Stock Acer, (depends where I sit) Mouse Microsoft Wireless 800 or Stock Acer, (depends where I sit) PSU Stock (400W) Case Acer M3400 Cooling Stock Hard Drives 500 GB Seagate ST3500418AS SATA II
