    * My ATI Radeon 5800 series driver was dated Nov 2009 (I think).
    * I went to ATI site - Graphics Drivers & Software - and downloaded and ran the two latest components (driver and Catalyst ver 9.12). I probably should have downloaded the 'suite' for a smaller download, but no matter.
    * I found a link to a hotfix on techreport.com - http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles...912Hotfix.aspx - and downloaded (120MB!) and ran this.
    * Halfway through the hotfix installation my pointer reverted back to normal size!

    I just hope it stays fixed.
    Hi - I tried the link but I just get a request for login details. How do I get past this?
    PS I have the same problem with the mouse!

    Hi Trev, which link does not work? I just tried the top one - it works and there is no sign of me being logged in.

    The second one opens a hotfix page (also nothing about log-ins) - but now the links to the downloads give "File not found". I'm guessing this is not a problem - because it was a hotfix for version 9.12 (and maybe a few following versions). Now we are up to Catalyst version 10.9 .... so it probably no longer needs a hotfix (or you could say it is "built in").

    Good Luck

    Problem Solved!

    Thanks Calypso3. It was the 2nd link that didn't work - but, as you say that is not relevant now.

    I had previously visited the 1st link & downloaded & installed the driver from 'Option 2 Individual Downloads' so this time I went for 'Option 1 Full Software Suite' (which is a much smaller download for some reason I don't understand). Both are revision number 10.8.

    This was just over a week ago & so far the big pointer has not returned!

    Thanks again for your help - I was finding the problem very irritating!

    Did you go for 'Option 1 Full Software Suite'? This worked for me but the 'Option 2 Individual Downloads' did not.

    The problem has not returned for me after 3 months.

    I tried going to the page ( http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles...912Hotfix.aspx) to download the fix but it is asking for login credentials. How can i get the fix?

    You need the first link 'graphics, drivers & software' - AMD Graphics Drivers & Software

    This is a know problem in certain AMD/ATI video drivers. Make sure you have the latest ATI device driver.
