Aero got disabled and started hearing dial-up noises

Just a general question/slight panic. I would say I'm a slightly above average computer user, knowledge wise, but when weird things that never happend before occur I'm out of my depth.

So I was just watching some videos on youtube, as you do, when the apperance of my desktop changed. Seems like Aero stopped working and dial-up like noises rang in my ears. I immedietly started a virus scan and disabled my internet connection. After about 5 seconds with the internet turned off the noises stopped and after about 10 the apperance changed back to normal. The virus scan didn't find anything. Haven't downloaded or browsed anything out of the ordinary the last couple days.

After a few minutes of searching the web for answers on my phone I turned my connection back on and checked my ip and such in cmd. I also released and requested a new one. Not sure if any of that would help but I figured why not give it a try.

Anyway, my question is basicly: What could have caused this and should I be concerned?
    Thanks for any help provided.

I think this could be down to WEI, sometimes it runs on a schedule to update its rating. I used to get it every Saturday night at about 2am in the middle of a BF4 round so I disabled it. I'll have a look to see if I can find out how to disable it because for the life of me I can't remember.

Look in Task Scheduler > Library > Microsoft > Windows > Maintenance > WinSAT. Disable the task and you should be good.

Thanks. That must be it. Strange that I've never encountered it before. Can't remember a Sunday at 1 am that I haven't been online. Must be rare to have updates then.

I think I exaggerated when I said every Saturday night to be honest. There was so much Leffe, Hoegaarden, Talisker and BF4 involved they all seemed the same. It may have been monthly to be honest. Either way, that's what it was. Now you've disabled it, if you check out System in Control Panel in a couple of months it will probably tell you your WEI needs updating.
