Windows Explorer's Toolbar Fails to load application Icons

Hello SevenForums, long time lurker here.
I've had a issue with my windows 7 explorer's toolbar not displaying icons of all applications (.exe files).
I've tried to depict the issue in the images (a,b) below

    (a)

    (b)

The only instance wherein I see icons are when I click a file associated with the software,
For example, a .mp4 video associated with VLC media player shows the VLC icon in the toolbar properly

I've googled to fix this for a few months now, but I haven't managed to yet.
So now I turn to your expertise, please help

    Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
FWIW I get the same thing for .exe files I don't believe it's a real issue because .exe files execute and do their own thing meaning if the developer didn't make an icon for the operation it might show that icon instead of the actual icon it shows other places like in your image cpuz,
Rufus does this too for it's .exe that I just noticed.

Open Application Toolbar and Context Menu Icon - Fix

There is a registry file in point 7. Get it and merge it. All done.

You also may try it, Mike.

    Thank you Arc.
Adding the icon to system32 and then altering the registry file had no effect.
Switching the value to imgress.dll,15 was perfect, but as they mentioned in the thread it showed the cascade windows icon.
The imgress.dll icon value for the one the post mentions(The libraries icon) is 203
But again it reverts to the same. (I just read the important parts, only after finishing up did I realised I confirmed Greg S's findings, hehe )
Finally I ended up using the explorer.exe,-251, and works well.

    Thank you
