Malwarebytes is a great program for fighting malware but you do need a anti virus program to fight virus.

Use this at the present time.

Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows

With your problem lets start with something basic.

Complete this tutorial by Brink and post the log here.

I definitely agree with bear here on the part of anti virus. Malwarebytes will only scan for and get rid of malware. If you dont have anti virus you are just asking for a big problem to happen. But whether or not you really want to protect your system is up to you.
i do intend to protect my system i just want my screen to stop turning off

ok the screen switching on and off while IM NOT gaming whats going on? it goes into power save mode while im not gaming just using the net.

typing on my keyboard and the screen turned off yesterday , twice its done that

Try another monitor to see if the same thing happens.

Try playing the same game which is crashing from the hard drive only, unplug the external. Again, this is not a good arrangement at all. Use external for storage and not running any program or it will always lag or worse.

Reset your Power Options to default. I suggest Balanced but High Performance might suit your gaming needs better. In advance what works best on my installs is to prefer Display at 20, Hard Drive at 20, Sleep at 30, Hibernate at 30, Hybrid Sleep Enabled.

There should be a VGA or HDMI port to plug a monitor into your laptop to compare.

ummm yeah its being used by the monitor my laptop is plug-into i have a normal monitor with just one cable and a USB cable attach thats not being used.

wait wait. the screen doesnt turn off guys. it only goes black with power mode on message the same message it shows when u turn computer off without turning the monitor off.

that message comes up with the monitor turned on and it effects both screens at once.

both my monitor and my laptop screen goes black BUT only my monitor has the power save mode message appear

thats my only issue im having is keeping my screens from turning off while gaming everything else is working fine

That is internal on your monitor then. Browse through the settings buttons.

As to both going blank, did you reset High Performance Power Options plan to Defaults?

Do you have a bootable game CD you can use without the hard drive to see if the problem persists? If you can't fine one then use Peppermint3 - Create Live CD/DVD/USB To Use For Emergency Backup - Windows 7 Forums to run for awhile to test this, even disable the hard drive in BIOS setup if possible to eliminate it and the OS and narrow it to the hardware as culprit.

OK, so we've eliminated that the laptop screen is shorting because the same shutdown happens simultaneously with a monitor plugged in, correct?

Have you tried updating your display driver? Enable hardware auto-updating via Windows Update (Steps 3 and 6) first, then Check for Updates and install all Important and Optional Updates. If the doesn't provide a newer driver, check the laptop Support Downloads webpage, followed by the Display maker's Support Downloads webpage. Test each available driver.

Then in the display software set only the monitor to display to see if the problem persists. Also check what happens when you span the display over both screens.

Adjust the refresh rate for both to see if that has any effect.

my display drivers are updated to current version.

Im using Nvidia quadro FX 2700M both are set to 60 hertz screen refresh rate unless you talking about something else?

just changed the hertz and didnt stop the monitor from going into power save mode and skyrim CTD because of this. when it doesnt get activated Skyrim runs just fine. even at highest settings. with no lag. but soon as the monitor turns off switching to power save mode and back on, Skyrim crashes.

If the laptop monitor is doing the same thing on its own when not connected to the monitor, then this probably isn't caused by the monitor's Power Save Mode but it just is invoked when the signal is lost. Is this what your testing shows?

Please confirm you reset the Power Options to default. What is the display timeout now?

Try rolling back the Display driver in Device Manager>Display>Driver tab.

Try uninstalling the display driver in Control Panel>Programs and Device Manager before a reboot. Then install the latest. Do the same and install the previous version.
