We'll have to see how this pans out. If MS is not extra careful, there will be millions of Windows 7 users that scream murder. For the W8.1 users the switch may be easier because W10 is really W8.2.

^ no kidding! Windows 8+2 = 10. NET framework 4+6 = 10. Kernel version 6+4 = 10. The guys heading MSFT are Illuminati numbers worshipers!

They think that if they number the next NET framework 5.0 instead of 4.6, it somehow throws their grand scheme off track as 5 does not harmonize well with the numerical frequency of 10!

The reason they called it W10 is not b/c W9.x means programs incorrectly determine the version. The real reason they skipped nine is b/c 8.1 (8+1=9) already had nine's kernel (6+3=9)!

    Here's further proof of their numerical dependency/lunacy: Windows 7 has kernel 6+1 = 7. Also called the last update 7 SP1 b/c actually calling it W7.1 would make it 7+1 = W8!

Also, W10 is sometimes referred to as Windows One [core] b/c, you guessed it, 1+0 = 1!

Of course, being MSFT, they didn't actually invent any of this none-sense. All of it traces back to Pythagoras, who discovered that if you reduce a compound number to a single digit by adding them, it somehow produces magical effects, such as globally dominating the [desktop] PC world for instance!

Of course - X is the roman number for 10. And XX is 20, XV is 15 and so on.

    W 8.1 would be W VIII.I, LOL

I uninstalled KB3035583 the other day. I searched my entire computer for anything containing "gwx" and this is what I found. I wonder
    1. why these items weren't removed when I uninstalled the update, and
    2. if I can delete these items myself with no harm to my install.

This means that the way the upgrade is presented and installed is of critical importance – even though it will be free – for Microsoft to avoid a storm of protest.
They may have already started to protest. I wouldn't be surprised in seeing Microsoft to issue an mandatory update to remove those files.

Check and see if you have KB2952664 installed, if you do, Reinstall KB3035583, then uninstall KB 29952664, then uninstall KB3035583. Then hide both updates.
