The service cannot be started. After laptop dropped.

    Hello,

I'm new to this forum, but I was just wondering if anyone could me with a problem that I had?
1st of all my friend dropped my laptop HP Elitebook 8440P and after turning it I noticed the laptop was going really slow, the sound was weird and glitchy so I uninstalled lots of programs and downloaded a handy script called "Tron" (ow.ly/LtPoY) to try and fix the problems. I ran "Tron" in safe mode and as Admin. When it completed I restarted my laptop to notice it wasn't slow any more and the sound worked perfectly but then I noticed that I couldn't open most programs. When trying to open a program it's comes up with the error "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it." so after doing a bit of research people said I had to enable Windows Installer in services.msc but I couldn't open that nor could I open Command Prompt as Admin (comes up with the error). So then I tried starting in safe mode but it just hangs forever at aswrvrt.sys . I looked up what it was and it's part of Avast but I can't uninstall Avast. I'm so stressed I was about to sell this laptop and now I don't know what to do. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If the laptop was dropped, chances are very high that the disk is damaged - unless it is a SSD.

It now works just as fast and the HDD didn't look damaged plus I put it in my other laptop and works well just can't open anything. I thought it would be more of a software issue. ( cause "Tron" ?)

And if it were a HDD issue how would I check?

Well I have been using that OS for about half a year with no issues. And I've ran Tron before. But if it is how would I format the HDD to put a new OS on it?
