Exposing File in Explorer Drop down folder tree

ON Various machines with windows 7 that I have it seams to work different. At times I can click on a file and it will highlight the folder tree to show me where its at in the folder tree. Other times I am just having to dig down through the tree to find it. I need a way to tell windows that I don't want to be digging around to find something when there is a way to expose it in the folder tree. Thanks You !

Today I found: In Windows Explorer click "Organize" button (top panel, Left) -> "Folder and search options" -> "Navigation Pane" check the box "Automatically expand to current folder".
Then I can Right Click on the file I found and "open file Location"

    Right Click

    You can:

    • Right click in the Navigation Pane
    • Choose "Expand to current folder"

    Note

Certain Windows Explorer hacks may cause that function to fail.
On my PC, if I use the hide User folder hack, the auto-expand function stops working.
