Windows 7: Unwanted characters being inserted in typed text

Unwanted characters being inserted in typed text

When typing in any Microsoft program, unwanted characters are being inserted, usually after I've typed a character and then moved the cursor to another position. Mostly what I'm seeing are the two characters b4 or b6. I can't make heads or tails of it. Has anyone seen this, or have a solution?

I realize these aren't the characters you are seeing, but does sound like formatting. See if these few quick fixes help:
