start menu number of items

No matter what I do I can't increase the number of items shown in my start menu the number doesn't increase and show an item that I know is pinned. I must be doing something wrong and can't increase the number of items shown in my start menu.

15 items are shown but I cant figure out how to get to other items that are pinned but not shown.
