How does Soluto improve boot time?

I installed Soluto (free version) - but can't figure out how it works. Thank you.

I didn't have much luck figuring it out either and gave up.

You can do other things to improve boot time.

How old is your PC? If it's a semi-antique, maybe you can't expect much improvement.

Fill out your system specs so we can better judge your hardware.

When did you last do a clean Windows install?

What are your PC maintenance habits?

If you don't have an SSD, that will make major improvements--typically to a boot time of no more than 30 seconds if you have a reasonably powerful CPU. But we don't know anything about your hardware.

well in my opinion their is no need for that software. just taking up space on your computer. can do that with msconfig. and uncheck unnecessary startup items. can also use autoruns but want to be carefule with it. https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/...rnals/bb963902

It will open a web page where you look for the PC name and click on it to see a complete audit of your startup. This includes suggestions for Services that can be disabled or delayed, some which are not otherwise accessible.

This is interesting and informative however I find that Soluto itself also delays boot, so after using it for a few days to fully understand what it's telling me, I usually uninstall it. Then I double check in msconfig>Startup and >Services and in Services.msc to make sure the changes recommended by Soluto are not reversed, and any that are not accessible there I research how to disable or delay them.

So, in summary the program is worth it's wealth of information, but is not to me a keeper. I don't like anything bogging Startup and anything that does - even a partial solution - has got to go.

Everything that works best for your Win7 install is compiled in Clean Reinstall Windows 7 including how to guard against freeloading startups. Until you get around to that perfect install, you can regain some performance by Cleaning Up Factory Bloatware

I still can't find that web page that gives me a complete audit of my Startup. I need more specific help finding where to click. Thank you.

You click on the PC name to open it. The PC name will appear in a webpage which opens after you click on Soluto from the System tray after it's audited the PC startup.



When you click on your PC name it will open up a more detailed pane that has tabs to explore:







You do need to sign up to get to that webpage. But it's free (at least it was.)
