I guess it's OK. There is no disadvantage setting it high. It is strange though that it needed the 2GBs RAM plus the 5.6GB page file.

Well I aborted the install and then it just sat there forever doing nothing so I used the task manager to get out of the application. Then when I attempted to restart it started installing again starting at 172 (please do not power off or unplug your machine) and I am going to guess that it will again not get past 172, so now what?

If you can get into the system you could hide 172 provided you can figure out which one it is. You cn always go back to a restore point and start anew.

Well I can't do anything at this point because it is attempting the install from the shut down screen and there is no option to abort. My only option is to power off or unplug which I am guess may result in a mess.

Press CTL+ALT+DEL. On the bottom right you then find a power button. Click on the little arrow (not on the button sig itself). Then hold the Shift key down and click on Restart. That gets you into the recovery environment from where you can reset to the last restore point.

The updates will come back. But this time do them in small batches and maybe hide the culprit - if you know which one that is.

That was the first thing I tried but it doesn't come up, even when you hold the keys down. The little blue busy mouse indicator spins and the dots after the text move but other than that it is completely frozen

Power off and restart in Safe mode. Then try that.

I'm surly confused. Post #1 states all updates were completed.

Got that all done, did all Windows updates and it ran fine. Later that day I ran it over to her house and got everything hooked up and guess what?
I think we need to start with something basic.

Please complete this tutorial by Brink and post the log here.
