I see the same icon on my system.
It's the Windows Explorer icon.

Are you sure what you report is abnormal?

What you see is normal, everyone has that folder on there taskbar after windows is installed, leave it alone.

You click on it to get here, fast, quick, and totally normal

Looking at your screenshots it's not clear exactly what you mean. You've highlighted.

1. Computer
2. New Volume (D)
3. Explorer pinned to taskbar

So which is it?

Anyway I think you need to look at the tutorial here:

Windows 7: Computer - Pin to Taskbar

It might be best if you state exactly where you expect to see this missing icon. If you mean that you need it to show on your desktop or start menu - right click "Computer" in Start Menu.

Computer shows the Computer icon, the D: drive shows a hard drive icon. That's what they're supposed to show.

Firefox "Pin to Taskbar" icon wont open in it's own icon.
Wish I had a better title, but I wasn't sure how to word this. Basically what's happening is I have 2 instances of Firefox (different versions and different folder locations) and one of the instances is not opening where it's icon location is. Example Screenshot:...

The icon shows in taskbar as "unknown icon"
Hi! I have just re-installed my OS. After I installed Adobe Photoshop CS6 64 bit, I pinned it in my taskbar. The icon of the desktop shortcut looks good, but in the taskbar, this is how it looks: How could I solve this problem?

Hiding unused "removable storage" devices from "Computer" folder
Not a major issue, of course, purely cosmetic, but still a minor annoyance none-the-less: I have a number of card reader drives that I never use (haven't even removed that plastic cover tape from them to help keep the dust out) that show when viewing the "Computer" window that displays drives. ...

Network connection icon always shows "not connected" even though I am
Hello, whenever I'm connected to a network, the attached icon is displayed. The other icons (e.g. the spinning wheel thing when establishing a connection) do work, but the "connected" icon seems to have disappeared for no reason. I did not install any new software and I don't know what else...
