2 iexplore.exe processes with 1 window open?

Is everyone's task manager showing it like this? Why 2 processes? 1 just to have it open and another for each webpage being displayed? Is this faster/better or something? Anyone know of a reason behind this?

Hello AGlobalThreatsK,

This is normal in IE8. You will have one process for IE8 itself, then another process for each tab opened in IE8. This is part of the built-in tab recovery feature in IE8 so that if one tab crashes in IE8, it's not suppose to crash all of IE8 and allow you to still use IE8 and the other opened tabs.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Yes that is normal, however I have had major issues due to this. When I was installing some adobe software it kept telling me that IE is running but when I ended the tasks in the task manager they would always come back. So I ended up uninstalling IE (it's more complicated than you would think) just so I could install Adobe CS4 software.

Hello Phoenon,

Yeah, I agree that they still have some bugs to work out of it.

You're welcome AGlobalThreatsK. Let's hope it's all working perfectly when Windows 7 is released for retail.

On a fresh boot, after my desktop loads but before I launch any browsing/email/internet applications, I notice I have two or three instances of iexplore.exe running in the list of active processes. Does this seem "normal" for Windows 7, or should I be concerned that iexplore.exe is running even...
