Folder created on partition drive also appears on my desktop

I would really appreciate some help on this one.

I have just acquired a refurbished machine with Windows 7 Pro pre installed. Thereafter I shrunk the volume in order to create another partition, on this partition a new volume and drive letter has also been created.

My problem is that whenever I create a folder on this partition is also created on my desktop and vice versa.

Any help in helping me understand why this behaviour is happening and how I could stop it would be most appreciated.

With thanks
Dave

I would think that somewhere along, the two places got associated by libraries. Best chance is to go through the tutorial section on this subject. It is also a great learning experience.
