But if you've read Step 1 in Clean Reinstall Windows 7 then you would know that you can use your friend's Win7 disk providing it is the correct bit-version (32 bit for 3gb or less RAM, 64 bit for 4gb or more RAM) and the same version of Win7 (e.g. Home Premium). If it is a different Win7 version then it explains how to extract the ISO image file from the DVD, unlock all versions, burn to another new DVD so you can choose your licensed version during the booted install.

So what you need to know about your friend's disk is if it is 32 bit (contents of DVD amounts to around 2.4gb) or 64 bit (closer to 3gb size on DVD), and what Win7 version it contains.

May I suggest you study carefully Clean Reinstall Windows 7 and ask back any questions so you get a perfect install?

It looks like it might be counterfeit with that "OEM-SLP Auto-Activation" label on the front. OEM-SLP is the activation file that comes onboard a factory install to make it reactivate during Recovery. It has no business being on any retail disk. Yet OEM-SLP emulation is how pirates hacktivate Win7.

I don't think I'd even use it with your own Product Key on PC because even though that would make it unquestionably legal, who knows what the counterfeiters have added to the disk?

Better to try to locate a clean copy of your licensed version. It's regrettable that MS took down the legal downloads which benefitted millions of their customers. If you can't find one I'll loan you mine.

You can use it to reinstall Home Premium on any PC that already has a license for it. It can also be unlocked to use another version with that version's license following Step 1 in tutorial.

Once again, you will get and keep a perfect Win7 install to the exact extent you follow the steps in the tutorial, and then stick with only the tools and methods given. Those who do this never come back with any future problems, and have the best installs of Win7 in the world.
