    Cannot Get Past The Welcome Sceen


    I am in safe mode at the moment as my computer will not get past the Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Welcome screen. The ding dong sound plays and then wont go on to the desk top.
    I have tried all the repair options I can see including memory and restore.
    Any help will be appreciated.

    In Advanced Boot Options menu (F8 - where you select Safe Mode) try

    Thanks, Tried that, didn't work. An edit to the first post, its the "Starting Windows"
    screen not the Welcome screen that freezes.

    That could be a driver or kernel error. Have you installed any drivers recently?

I have a new monitor that is 21 inches and my screen savers do not fill the screen totally. In Windows XP one had the ability to click "How big should photos be".....from smaller to larger scale was available to use. Also, one could select "Stretch all pictures". However I don't see these features...
