Hi everyone, Can you password protect your external hard drive.
Hi everyone, Can you password protect your external hard drive.
I am not sure what is the consensus on encryption here but I guess it just complicates stuff if something goes wrong. However, here is a recent article: Best Free Drive Encryption Utility | Gizmo's Freeware
GokAy thanks for the link. If you don't mind I do pencil drawings. I have around 400 pic's that I have done, I have scanned them into my computer and burned them to a DVD. I have signed all of them and dates, I am in the process of copy right and backed them up on my external hard drive. My computer of course is pass worded but the external drive is not. I live why out in the desert country and when I'm gone if someone breaks in, well I am trying to protect them any ideas would be awesome.
Thanks...
I doubt that encryption will stop anyone stealing the hard disk itself. You can additionally upload them to cloud, OneDrive gives 15GB free space. If you are still worried if they may not be safe there, maybe you can archive(zip/rar etc) them with a password and then upload. But don't keep only 1 copy, archive may go corrupt too, don't forget. I guess best would be to store the harddisk in a fire proof safe, even in a bank safe if they are so important (only you know the real worth). You should have at least 2 copies whichever method you chose.
Thanks for the info...
