If I do a repair from the win 7 disc will I lose everything

I'm not sure what is on the win 7 disc repair or upgrade? I had a Microsoft tech work on my system remotely to fix a updates problem. I was unable to download any updates, he was able to fix that and many updates were installed.

After he was done and I rebooted I started to notice that if I wasn't working on my computer my monitors would go to sleep ever hour on the hour ( I believe that I have a tread about my monitors ) but like I said if I don't touch my computer or stop working on it at 3:50 PM at 4:50 PM,5:50PM,6:50PM and so on.

I think the tech changed something or maybe the updates caused the monitor issue. I know there is a way to repair Win7 and from what I read it says none of my programs ,documents, desktop shortcut etc.

Can someone explain exactly what happens when and if I put the Win7 disc in and boor from it and chose repair.
I just want to make sure I am not worse off than I am now if I do this repair.

Any input is much appreciated.

Yes you have a thread about your monitors Having a issue where my monitors are going to sleep and never cared to answer if the Group Policy method would fix it. Did you even try it?

I'm sorry I thought I did come back and say it didn't work. I forgot you asked about the group policy but I came back to tell you what my graphic card was. Since I forgot to answer that question I wanted to come back and post the answer about my graphics card and I forgot to answer the other question about group policy.

Sys Repair Disc does not load repair tools - just background
I'm trying to fix my brother's friend's laptop - my suspicion is he dropped it - the hard disc is almost certainly where the problem is. That said, I hooked it up to my desktop and it's "usable" in the sense that I can access the repair tools via my W7 OEM disc to try and run utilities on it....

USB drives lose full disc sharing permissions after reboot
I'm running Win 7/64 Home Premium on my media PC with 7 USB drives, all connected via a powered hub. Whenever I reboot (warm or cold), the sharing permissions are lost, generally to all, although every so often one of the WD drives will maintain it (the Seagate ones always lose them). I've...
