    Sorry mate we must have been typing at the same time I shall try again in a couple of weeks to see what is happening . The WizTree suggestion was stroke of genius.

    Update just got this back from Kaspersky

    It appears that for some reason, some how, the Kaspersky support tool "Trace files" has been enabled. When this happens, everything you do gets traced and recorded, hence large files accumulating.

    Please go to the program data folder and delete all the enc1/log files inside the Kaspersky Lab folder.

    Also make sure the Trace files is DISBALED to stop it happening any more.

    Open Kaspersky
    Go to "Support" at the bottom
    Go to Support Tools
    click DISABLE TRACE FILES.

    The trace was disabled so I think it was just those eng/log files and now it is just a matter of keeping an eye on them
