    EFS Service shows started and not!


    Hello,
    Due to a problem of getting popups to backup my encryption key on each boot, which I have been clicking the remind me later option. Yesterday I did for a while get it to stop on my user account by using cipher /U /N in an elevated command prompt. Found some downloaded files and deleted them.
    Well the popups came back.
    While investigating I found that the EFS Service was started and on Automatic. I do not use Windows encryption or bitlocker to the best of my knowlege so I disabled it as a test. In Services.msc it shows as disabled and started which doesn't allow a change to stop it. In the properties of the EFS Service it says it IS stopped and disabled.
    Another unresolved issue, requesting assistance......

    To any who may be thinking of helping me on this situation, be advised that after several reboots......
    The EFS services is off.
    I have done a search on this site on EFS and it does not include ANY results. I know it is the Encrypted File System but do not know it's requirement.
    Any assistance appreciated!
