Updating to Windows 10 and Cortana

According to the Windows 10 update site those in Canada will not get it however, yes to those in USA, China and a few other countries.
I have set up mine to update to Win10 on July 29 but a thought just occurred to me: this is about the time I will actually be moving to China and taking my PC and lap top with me.--Does it mean that if I wait and then have the update while I am there I would get 'Cortana'?

[This makes me think of another question: should I be notifying Microsoft of my move? I own Office as well and am thinking about this because of future updates and if a Chinese IP will affect anything.]

W10

What you have to remember is that W10 is still in the >>> testing stage <<<.

I would stay with W7 for the time being, as and when it is released as a fully tested OS, you will have a year to upgrade from W7.

Oh I didn't know that. I had assumed it is now, presently, in the testing stage but as of July 29 it would no longer be so--since, if not mistaken, purchase would also be possible at that point.

Thanks torchwood. I find it interesting that you find the loss of Media Player as a big loss, unless of course you meant there is no serious loss if 'media player' is the only one. Too each their tastes and preferences I know many of us have a few media players which we think are better.

More importantly though my 2 questions have yet to be answered. Here they are again:
''Does it mean that if I wait and then have the update while I am there [China] I would get 'Cortana'?''
and I had also asked:
'Should I be notifying Microsoft of my move? I own Office as well and am thinking about this because of future updates and if a Chinese IP will affect anything.''

Probably but be careful it's in the correct language, might be affected by the ISP you use. I'd be sure to get the update now that puts the GWX/Get Windows 10 icon in the Notification Area and open it to reserve your copy, can't hurt. The icon looks like the Windows key logo.
That may not be necessary as Windows had to only be Activated, Registration was/is optional.
It might depend upon your version of Office, might affect the subscription-based Office 365. Office 2016 is in testing now but don't know when it will be out.

Yes correct torchwood. I'm going to wait a few months or so until I research and see what people say about the bugs being non-existent first also. Thank you.
Then we can on some WIN10 without the party-pooper-bugs. hehe.
Cheers...

Not sure if this would apply to Win 10 or not but I am currently living in the Far East and have my time zone set accordingly but the language still US/EN Office updates are always for US/EN I never get prompted to install any Asian one's (apart from offered an update to display Asian Characters once over or something to that effect) Win 7 updates are always of the US/EN variety and I do get offered additional language packs but far as I recall everybody does anyway...

The only thing that insists on reverting to the local Asian Language every time is Google Webmaster Tools it is fine at first but as soon as you click anything it defaults to Asian not a problem since I can read and write the language but still annoying... Google search was doing this also up until a few months ago so I assume they must be detecting browser language now rather than by GEOIP, that is just a guess though.

So I think possibly the bottom line is as long as you have a US/EN install of Windows and Office and your language is set accordingly then you should receive exactly that no matter where you are...

Updating Windows 7 RC?
I was looking around the forums for a fix for a problem I previously had and I read that we can up date Windows 7 Build 7100 to 7200 or something like that, is this a simple update or is it a big thing like re-installing the OS? Just wondering if it is worth upgrading or not? :) Thanks.
