That's about $630 USD. Not knowing the market in India, it would be hard to suggest any model. In the US, that would buy a pretty decent laptop with an i3 or i5 Intel but I'm not a recent shopper. Besides that, the Asia-Pacific models may be different model numbers all together. Your best bet is to review models available for your area.

I suspect the marketing is totally different but I get lots of ads in every Sunday newspaper for local/regional outlets.

    Hi,
Yep a tough region for us to figure out
Not very great longevity mine is darn near 6 years old now silly little gateway M series.

Always keep it clean on the inside,
Never cover the bottom entirely that is where the air intake vent is.
Make sure it has a ssd.

Use it for what? How will it be used? Is the HD graphics important to you? Memory? Disk storage?

I did a few quick shopping sprees (on price alone) before looking at the detail of your present laptop. I'm impressed with what you have. You'll have a hard time matching that for your budget. If the Sony runs well, you might think about upgrading it with a SSD and save some bucks. Unload all the Sony "bloatware" that usually comes with it and bump the RAM to 8GB if you have a lot of applications running all the time. Also review your AV software. Many are a lead weight to the system. I've got a little sub-$400 HP laptop that is supper fast after removing the extra crapware, fine tuning the startup and going with Microsoft Security Essentials AV. It boots to the desktop in about 30 seconds and shuts down in about 6 seconds so I never bother with sleep, hibernate, etc. And that's with a HDD.

About the only thing I see wrong with your current laptop is the 1.5 hour battery. That's probably due to the graphics card. If you could make do with integrated graphics, you'd be within budget for a new laptop and bump battery life to the 4-5 hour range.

So re-read my first line above.
