I am on Windows 8.0.
I haven't noticed much difference in that in the Command Prompt window, just that there will be some things DOS that are not available in the Command Prompt on WinXP and later. I started with MS-DOS in '92 with Win3.1.

You say you are using Win8.0 and your System Specs shows Win7. I strongly suggest you Update to Win8.1 [free from the Store] as the touted Win10 Upgrade won't be free for Win8.0, only for Win7 w/SP1 and Win8.1.
Unfortunately this Laptop cannot even properly handle restore points. Even with fastbooting off I think it successfully did 3 restore points out of maybe 20 attempts. I am way too paranoid to try to update the OS through Windows Update.

The win 7 specs were for a desktop machine I had running Windows 7. Now I just have the Laptop. I hope to get back to desktop machines at some point. Hard to know when exactly though.

Thanks for the friendly advice though. If anything I may try to put Windows 7 Pro on this once I have another machine.

You're welcome. Only other advice I'd offer for the Notebook/Laptop is to make sure you can get Win7-compatible drivers for it. Some that come with Win8.0/8.1 may not be down-gradable.

That is always the litmus test. The other issue is UEFI/GPT but I don't want to hijack the thread. MBR was simpler in many ways.
