Can you clarify this please? You formatted the HDD yes? Before or after installing the SSD?

Yes, internet explorer.

I am starting to doubt whether I actually formatted that HDD. It probably could explain all my troubles. The more I think of it the more probable it seems.

I could not use the program and features to delete it. Gave the same error, even after I changed the letter back to F:. So I manually removed the microsoft office folder from program files (x86). There might be some residue that I can't detect, but not in that folder. Could not find a office folder in the program files folder of the same drive.

I then installed it I drive C, using my cd and CD-key.

My problem seems so pervasive that I've actually given in and will buy myself a new HDD. I've decided to go for WD Red 3TB HDD. They are expansive but supposed to be reliable and it seems like good options for either a new build with RAID or a NAS solution.

I don't have space for backups as it is, so don't want to mess things up before photos and the irreplaceable data is backed at a safe spot. I will therefore not proceed until I'm in safe haven. Hope you understand.

Once I get the HDD I plan to format both the SSD and the old HDD completely and reinstall windows 7 (or possibly win10 if it get's enough praise). For the sake of science and information (pompous.. ) I can however try more drastic solutions right before doing that, if you have anything special in mind. I will however be wiping down both those disks regardless of the results as a safety measure.

You can try running ccleaner to clean programs and also the registry. Make sure to at least create a system restore point before. It is alright to wait until you get a backup, already registered to the thread anyway. Just let us know when you backed up so we can have some fun before a re-install.

For reference, Clean Install Windows 7

Hi,

Just want to inform you that I had some pressing matters at work that didn't allow me to continue with a computer without office. That unfortunately didn't make it possible to experiment further with the issue.

I bought a new HDD, a WD red 3TB, and moved all important files to this one. I than proceeded with format (full, not quick) of the 1TB HDD that had been giving me issues. I could still enter windows after that, but the problems remained, so I did a format of my SSD and then did a clean install of windows 7.

This naturally solved the issues and I'm now up and running as normal. Thanks again for trying to help me. I hope this thread at least provides some information to others with the same problem. My solution is a bit laborious, but it's safe and will solve any problems that aren't related to hardware.

How can I change the file path for the WMP playlists I had modified.
My external drive just died. Unfortunately, I had all my music playlists stored on it so now of course WMP can't find them. I have backups in other locations so that is not a problem.
