How to get rid of "Get Windows 10" popup for good?

Hello everyone:

We have several Windows 7 desktops in our office. They are the only OS that will ever be installed on those systems. Since about a month ago I started seeing this nuisance:



First I tried to close it "gracefully" by looking for "exit", "close" or "don't bother me again" button. I found none.

I then started looking for a solution and someone suggested killing the gwx.exe task via Task Manager and then removing a couple of tasks in the Task Scheduler. (Unfortunately I didn't save the link with more details.) This method seems to have worked for a couple of weeks until recently one of the Windows updates brought that thing back.

Is there any way to get rid of that popup for good?

This should be posted on the front page here. I'm sure a lot of IT people would appreciate it.

Getting frustrated with the Microsoft pop-up advising me that Win 10 upgrade is available each time IE11 is opened. Have followed the instructions for deleting the folder GWX in System 32 and Wow64, and deleted KB3035583 which is allegedly causing the pop-up. Is there any other entry that causes the pop-up notification. I have no plans in the foreseeable future to upgrade to Win 10.

Have tried all three of the recommendations in addition to getting permission to make changes to the GWX folder, such as deleting this folder and deleting KB3035583, which I believe initiates the pop-up window. Even after doing all the aforementioned, the pop-up still appears after opening IE11. Any other recourse available?

Logged onto Reddit.com win 10 pop-up and found several postings about removing this pop-up. One such posting listed a number of Microsoft updates that they have shown as important which are related to Win 10 in some manner. The list is as follows:

KB2952664 - Compatibility
KB2976978 - Diagnostics
KB2997759 - Diagnostics
KB2990214 - Enable upgrade
KB3021917 - Diagnostic
KB3022345 - Telemetry Diagnostic
KB3035583 - Installs get Win 10 App
KB3044374 - Enables from 8.1 to Win 10
KB3068708 -
KB3075249- UAC Telemetry
KB2922324 - It was pulled by Microsoft. It should be uninstalled

It appears that these items should first be uninstalled, followed by an update scan so that when the updates reappear they can be hidden so they are not installed again at a later time.

Any comments about these updates such as perform the steps as suggested?
