    weird issue with folders "resetting"

A few days ago Windows started doing something really strange. When I have windows open, and I'm scrolled over to a certain part of the folder to display the files/folders, every few minutes, the window "resets" itself back to the beginning of the folder, losing where I am. I could be all the way over in the R's, and suddenly, it shoots back over to the A's again. This happens with all open windows at the same exact time. With 3 windows open, for example, I can see all 3 zip back to the beginning again, even if they're in the background and I'm browsing.

Any idea what is happening here?

    Try these steps:
Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup

There's nothing in there that wasn't there before this issue started - and this issue just started a few days ago.

Clean startup is a good idea even though you believe nothing changed.

System Restore to a point prior to the issue started - System Restore

Unfortunately I don't have any system restore points saved before this issue started. I was temporarily moving some files around and my C drive was very close to being full, and Windows seemed to automatically delete my restore points.

Okay, I just discovered it's my password manager, Dashlane, that's causing this issue. It updated itself last week and this started happening after the update now that I think about it. To confirm, I left task manager open while working in some open folders. At the exact moment the folders all reset to the beginning, a new instance of Dashlane briefly pops up in task manager, between the 2 normal Dashlane instances (dashlane.exe and dashlaneplugin.exe). Once the folders reset, the 3rd instance of dashlane closes again, and this repeats every few minutes.

I have no idea what happened in the last update, but between this and the huge memory footprint Dashlane makes in Firefox, I'm not too happy right now. A shame, because I love it's functionality and it's interface. I especially like it because I can save my passwords encrypted on my local drive instead of ion the cloud. I emailed support - hopefully they'll look into this.

So clean startup could indeed troubleshoot the issue :) Glad you found it, tried clean re-installing?

I'm gonna wait to see what I get back for a response from Dashlane. I know they have a troubleshooter exe that they've had me use before for another issue a while back - they might want me to run that again.

Dashlane is still working on this issue. According to emails sent to me from Dashlane, a couple others have reported the same issue with Dashlane but they are unable to replicate it on their end and they have no idea what's causing this behavior.
