Windows 7 freezing on startup, only safe mode possible

    Hello,

I have a quite recent problem with my machine. My windows 7 freezes up during / right after the startup animation. What happens is that the screen goes black and display stops receiving a signal. It used to be ocassional, but now it happens all the time. I can start the machine in safe mode (+networking). What I've tried so far is:

    -tested the memory sticks individually
-removed the GPU and used the mobo-integrated one
-removed most of the extra programs and services from startup with msconfig

They haven't made a difference. CPU and mobo temps seem ok from what I see in BIOS. So, how to further diagnose the problem & proceed with the fixing of the issue?

    Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
Post a screen shot of the msconfig startup items you show,

It sounds like desktop manager is being disabled/ not starting or your user account has become corrupted by many different possibilities

Make a new admin account and make your existing user account a standard account and test,
