Startup repair may run for long in some cases, but not as long as you are saying.

Abort it and do the post #9.

How are you trying to get it on your USB stick? From the tutorial SeaTools for DOS and Windows - How to Use

2. For writing it to an USB pen drive, the easy way is to use Win32 Disk Imager | Free Development software downloads at SourceForge.net

Note
The downloaded ISO will not be written to the USB Pen Drive as it is. You need to alter the .iso file a bit to make it writable. Very little job is involved.
  • Download or install either 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR (not free).
  • Extract the downloaded .iso file.
  • Rename the SeaTools.ima to SeaTools.img.
  • Burn the SeaTools.img file using Win32 Disk Imager

I am really trying but I don't think I am getting very far.
I don't think I saved it correctly on the USB as I couldn't extract the ima. I just ended up copying it. It didn't change anything when I put the USB into the broken computer.
And the partition wizard - I downloaded that but it didn't come up to the screen shot that you had. It said: on a black screen with white writing it said: intel boot agent GEv 1.3.66 PXE-E61 media test failure, check cable PXE-MOF Exiting Intel Boot Agent Insert system disk in drive press any key when ready and then it cycles around that again.
Please advise.

SeaTools for DOS | Seagate

Save it to your desktop, open it with 7 zip and rename the seatools.IMA file to Seatools.IMG and use Win32diskImager to write it to a USB Flash drive. Step by step is here SeaTools for DOS and Windows - How to Use
