    Few Questions About 7

Hello first time poster looking for some help from some Windows 7 savy users. Please forgive if some of these have been answered in the past but a lot to read in a few days time.

Firstly I am a happy Vista x64 user and I love it but it has only one problem that I HATE about it.

You know when you set a "folder" to say "view - List" and then you go back say 2 days later (its always random when it happens) and its set back to "thumbnails" well I was told it was fixed in 7.

So my birthday was on the 7th and my buddy came across some copies of Windows 7 from his uncle so he gave me one and I have been thinking of trying it out but I have some simple questions.

    1. Can I get classic Vista/XP taskbar on windows 7 which includes icons as well.

I really think it looks goofy and I really dislike it (I also mean icons look the same too)

    2. Is the folder issue I spoke off truly fixed in 7?

    3. Is there a way to disable the "preview" function for browser tabs and folder tabs etc.

    4. I hear mixed reviews but will Rivatuner work in Windows 7 x64 without the need of being in "emulation" mode or hitting F8 each time you boot up?

Simply put I am shooting for a mirror image of my current Vista and disable all the "visuals" they added to Windows 7. I know most adore the gadgets etc but I don't like them :P

Thank you very much for assisting me.

    1) You can use this for the theme and this for a more XP like taskbar

    2) I have windows home premium and I have no "Folder Issues"

    3) Not that I know of

    4) Theirs a Rivatuner for Windows 7

Hope this helped. Also you could set a Windows 7 - Vista Dual boot to test out Windows 7 and if you hate it you can delete it.

    Hope this helped :)

If you want everything like XP, Vista, why change from Vista your not changeing anything. Three steps forward with Win 7 then 4 steps backward.

I just want the folder settings reset bug with Vista fixed.
Since they have stated that they don't know what causes it (and many have this issue) and if it is fixed in windows 7 then why not?

I mean if I wanted my PC to look like a Mac id buy one after all. I figured Microsoft would allow a classic look like they have in all their past OS.

Oh, yes the folder settings bug have been fixed. Also Microsoft is trying to get people back with the times. People want good looking desktops and new features. If you want XP/vista then stay with it but you will be behind the ages.

Well, let's look at the Amish. They have been deprived of technology and their in your own dark age. Theirs a whole new world in technology and they want you to experience. If you can't handle windows 7 Then you might as well be as out dated as the amish. Also people likes Windows 1995. Do you see that option around anymore :P

The Amish CHOOSE not to allow themselves the technology and in the end I respect that as should you. That is not being deprived but a choice of their way of life.
If the world was to lose our toys tomorrow we would starve while they feasted. To that point if the US for example kept to our morals like that we would be in a much better position then we are today.

Also if you look at the difference between 95 and XP you will notice a similar taskbar so your example is pointing that windows was being lazy and are forcing a GUI down our throats even if we don't like it. (and yes Vista AND XP have the old school 95 look too as a option)

Either case as I stated I know how to tweak the OS now to remove all the resource hogging crap from the OS and get my Vista look back so thanks again for the assistance.
