    Too many windows

I have reloaded windows 7 and now when I click on an item I keep getting multiple windows on my desk top. They just keep stacking up as I click on a different one. Is there a way to change so that I only see one window on the desktop with the rest showing the title in the space just under the menu bar?
Example: I click on windows explorer and go to users. Then I click my name. Then my documents. With each click I get a different window cascaded one on top of the other. Don't remember having this before I reloaded windows.
I know this is not very clear but hope you can understand.

    Welcome to the forum,

It sounds like this setting is set to open each folder in it's own window instead of the same window,

This tutorial will show you how to change that,

Open each Folder in the Same or Own Separate New Window

Are we talking about multiples of the same window (not normal) or are they different windows, which should stack on top of each other, totally normal.

Derek, I`ve always kept mine to Open each folder in it`s own window, I think that`s the proper way it should be, just the opposite of your high lite.

Mine are the opposite of yours, but it's just preference. I don't think there is a right or wrong.

They are different windows stacked on each other.
I have tried the suggestions and none worked.

    Hi,
If it's not working you must not be exiting the settings properly because that is a system wide setting,
It applies to every where but browsers
They have their own options menus on how to open links.
    Folder Options - Open
