    Need some serious help please!

    Hello there.

I have a awful situation going on on my second PC. I clicked on a file by accident in my downloads folder from years ago and the screen went withe with nothing on it except my mouse cursor (which I can move). It is not frozen because I can still hear stuff like dvd's playing in the background if I put them in.

So this happens everytime now when I start my computer. I did attempt to start up in standard safe mode in order to do a system restore, but it just automatically restarts my PC for some reason so I can't even do that.

However, the other two safe modes work but I don't know anything about computers to try and fix it from there. To make matters worse, I don't have a windows disk as it is a second hand PC and quite old (only used for browsing the internet and watching videos) and all other options I found on the internet I can't do as I cannot access either safe mode or 'normal' mode.

Can this even be fixed? Can someone help please? Thanks in advance

    Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
    Safe mode with networking,
Shut down your machine, Unplug-Hold the power button down for 30/45 seconds (Power Drain)
Power up and Tap the F8 key continuously until you see a black page with white text,
Use the down arrow key to toggle to safe mode with networking/ hit the enter key.
    Login as usual
    Other advanced methods,

    Safe Mode

Wondering, is it a black screen with mouse or your desktop background with mouse?

Okay so I tried all those methods you suggested twice and now it restarts when I load safe mode and with networking so I can't even use those.

And no its a white screen I get if I boot up normally.

Did you try a clean startup? Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup

Do you get Context Menu if you right click?

Try loading Last Known Good Configuration in F8 menu.

If not, see Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot for what you can do.
