Need surefire way to boot my C:\ drive

    Hello 7 Forums

I need some kind of tool (probably CD/USB) able to format my disk. This is because when i try starting windows (in any mode), i get a very shot-lived blue screen. Also, when i try recovery dvd's, including the original win 7 installation dvd, i get a black screen with just a cursor, and i cannot shift + F10 or anything. it hangs for literally 10's of hours with no progress.

    Thank you all in advance

    -Tegewaldt

PS: I am NOT able to get ANY information out of the PC, so i cant give you e.g. a crash dump or anything else.

    Try loading defaults in BIOS.
Check the cable connections of your drives on both ends.
Check the HDD health with its manufacturer's tools.

Did you backup your data files already? Emergency Kit - save your files from a dead OS
After all you can use Partition Wizard free (bootable CD) to format as you wish.

Did you download the exe or bootable ISO? They are 2 different downloads. If you have the ISO, you can either use Burn Disc Image - ISO or IMG file or ImgBurn (don't allow installation of any 3rd party software if asked). Or use Rufus if you want to make a bootable USB flash drive instead.

    The iso?

I'm not sure if i'm downloading the right file anymore :)

From the partition wizard page Free download Magic Partition Manager Software, partition magic alternative, free partition magic, partition magic Windows 7 and server partition software - Partition Wizard Online, i can find the "free edition, and the "bootable cd" labeled as free.

    Burning it now.

Booting from it will then allow me to format the drive? or just re-partition it?

And thank you so much for your quick responses GokAy!

Sure, it is a very good partition manager we use frequently. You already backed up your files or have no need for backing up, right? :)

Given that it is a freshly installed win 7 - i need no files

The program launched fine, but what does "rebuild MBR" do? (might solve my problem of the pc not starting)
And else, do i just right click the drive and press format, and then that's it?

Sure, you are free to try "rebuild MBR" since you are ready to format anyway :)

If not, delete all partitions and create new one/s as you wish.
