Help with irritating scrren flash and sound when typing

Lately when I hit certain keys, e.g., the space bar, the shift key and others I get a flash and bell sound when typing. I have no idea how or why this is suddenly happening and wonder how to eliminate it.

Any one have a suggestion?

What program are you typing in? That sound would denote that whatever program is in focus does not accept those key strokes.

Thanks for the responses sci and Boozad,

I am using Win 7 pro 86 bit with Mozilla TBird and Firefox. I get the flash and sound alerts when writing text in a variety of apps and programs. Examples are Facebook, this forum, and word processors and many sites where text is entered. It has only recently started doing this - I have gone to Control panel Sounds and do not find a way to eliminate these sounds not to mention the flashes.

Not a major problem just irritating.

Thanks
