The "L" key isn't working and its part of my password

I can't access the laptop without that letter since its part of the password. This is my mom's laptop and i'm using it only because i have yet to replace my dc port on mine. She is the only user on her laptop and i have no clue how to access it without a password. Is there a way that I can bypass this?

You can use the on-screen keyboard. It is in Start > All Programs > Accessories > Ease of Access. That works good.

Did you by chance install the wrong keyboard layout?

    Hmm, that is really strange.

That is another possibilty. Also, maybe the num lock is on. Do you get any character on the L ??

I doubt that this would work. If the on-board keyboard does not work, the letter itself is set to another value. I think the num lock plays an act on him.

Try holding the ALT key and typing:

    Capital L: 76
    Lower case l: 108

NOTE: Use the numeric keypad- the numbers at the top of the keyboard won't work

    Good Luck!

No. The laptop was working perfectly fine until out of nowhere the entire keyboard stopped working. Then earlier today the keyboard started to work when some updates were added to the laptop. The i tried putting in the password and it wouldnt work and i discovered it was because the L wasnt working.
